I have learned how to create a website where I can showcase my works, reflections, and journals on the site and share them to my friends. To me, it is a unique experience in university because I have never built a website before. Initially, I thought building a website is difficult. But the professor introduced us Wix, which is an easy tool for beginners to design their personal blogs. We received guidance from professor and teaching assistance and successfully complete our websites.

 

     I think Wix is user-friendly to everyone. I don’t have to go through complicated process and it doesn’t require too much professional knowledge. The page is clear and easy to understand. In addition, it provides various templates that I can choose to match my theme. I benefited a lot from using e-portfolio such as Wix. I can easily record my life and share my interests with my friends without writing them down on the paper. Wix gives me the freedom to write down whatever content I like. For example, I use Wix to post the topic about anime and character analyzation. I am motivated to search further information to make my content more attracting to my audiences.

 

     I think using this tool in teaching can stimulate students to discover more topics they may interested in or encourage them to have further stud. I consider to use Wix as a tool in future teaching. Maybe I can assign homework or presentations through Wix. Students can use technology to explore the topics and add the creativity in the study.

 

     When I first using Wix to create my website, I encountered few challenges. The first difficulty was how to edit the website and add subpages. When I first entered the platform, I felt a bit confused about what to do. There were a lot of buttons and I have no idea about their functions. But after spending some time understanding the functions, now it is easier for me to edit the website. Another challenge I faced was that when I edit the website, there were two line that shows the broader of the site. Sometimes I have no idea if I put my content over those two lines. Will it be invisible when other people visit my website? I still haven’t figure out the solution yet.

 

     Apart from Wix, our classmate introduced us another platform to create website and it is Google Sites. I had used it in previous course. To be honest, I don’t like Google Sites at all because the overall layout is not that pretty compared to Wix. Although Google Sites’ function is easier to understand, I still prefer using Wix. In my opinion, Wix looks more formal and professional.

 

     I’m very lucky to learn how to build my personal website. When I completed all the task and looked at my work, I felt a sense of achievement. I never thought I can create an e-portfolio on my own. After the end of the course, I will still use Wix to record my life and activities.
